About Alex

Hello, I'm Alex. I'm a highly regarded, effective and energetic senior leader with significant strategic, customer and commercial product experience, who moved from the corporate sector to become a social entrepreneur.

I spent 9 years in a range of Director-level roles at TalkTalk, where I ran the Digital Department, Customer Loyalty and helped set up Internet Matters, a not-for-prof it to help parents protect their children online. I also worked in the public sector on the Covid-19 response, with a particular focus on EDI and ensuring we reached the communities furthest from power.

I'm a firm believer in businesses doing well by doing good and the power of technology to help make the world a better place.

It was my own experience of discovering social enterprises and other good companies - and realising what hard work it was to actually find them - that led to me co-founding In Good Company with my co-founder, Sarah Kingston. Our mission is to help good companies thrive by connecting them with consumers who care.

I have been a charity Trustee, sat on the board of the UK Council for Child Internet Safety and I am part of the Future Economy Alliance, which is working to build a stronger, fairer, greener economic climate for the UK.

Outside of ‘work’ m y interests are wide-ranging. I'm an enthusiastic community gardener, love sober raving, reading and cuddling my two cats!

I've spoken openly over the years about my challenges with mental health and am especially passionate about mentoring women in business, especially other female founders.
